What's in a name?
While teaching a class a few weeks ago, someone asked me, "Where did the name Pip & Pin come from?"
I'm always so interested to hear how other people came up with their names (especially because naming things is one of the hardest things for me!), so I thought I'd share my answer with you, too!
The first thing to know about Pip & Pin is that it was started by my sister and me, and when we would do craft markets together, the question wasn't "What does Pip & Pin mean?" but, "Which one's Pip and which one's Pin?". While neither of us is Pip OR Pin, the name does come from people. Specifically, our grandmothers.
'Pipsqueak' was the nickname of our paternal grandma, Gloria. 'Pip' for short, and she had a small tattoo on her arm with this moniker.
And 'Pin' comes from our maternal grandma, Anne. She had a huge craft room in the upstairs room of their house, and was always knitting and sewing and crafting away, and was actually the person who taught me how to knit way, way back in the day.
The name Pip & Pin is an homage to them ❤️
