THE ALTERING SWEATER PATTERNS COURSE
Knit sweaters that fit your body and your style — not almost, but actually.
This self-paced course teaches you how to customize knit sweater patterns with confidence.
START THE COURSEHey friend. Are you wanting to knit sweaters that actually fit?
I can’t tell you how many times knitters tell me the same thing — you spend all this time knitting, you try it on, and suddenly the neckline is a bit too loose, the sleeves are longer than you expected, or the whole thing just doesn’t sit the way you imagined. It’s so frustrating, right?
And honestly, so many knitters feel nervous about changing a pattern. They worry they’ll mess it up, or waste yarn, or that it will take forever. You’re definitely not the only one.
That’s exactly why we made this course. It walks you through how to adjust patterns so your sweaters fit your body and your style — so you end up with something that feels like you every single time.
Here’s what you’ll learn inside.
The Altering Sweater Patterns Course takes you through everything in a clear, step-by-step way — from the measurements that actually matter, to understanding ease, shaping, gauge, and how to customize a pattern so it fits the way you want it to.
Each lesson builds on the last, so by the end, you’ll feel confident making every sweater truly your own.

You might be wondering, “Okay…
but is this really for me?”
Well, tell me if any of these ring true:
- You’ve knit sweaters you like in theory, but not on your body.
- You choose oversized designs because fitted ones feel risky.
- You follow the pattern exactly and still don’t get the expected result.
- You tend to add extra positive ease and hope it fits.
- You want to fix something in a sweater, but don’t know where to start.
- You’re tired of guessing and hoping for the best.
- You want sweaters that feel intentional and flattering.
- You want to feel confident making changes, not nervous.
If any of these were a yes, this is for you.
Alright, so who’s teaching you all of this?
Hi, I’m Megan Nodecker, co-founder of Pip & Pin and your instructor for this course. I’ve been knitting for over 25 years and designing sweaters for more than a decade, and I love helping knitters feel confident making changes that actually fit.
The Altering Sweater Patterns Course grew out of my sold-out workshops at Knit City Vancouver and Calgary, where I taught over 70 knitters how to adjust their sweaters with ease. I’m thrilled to bring this course online so you can learn the same simple, effective techniques — at your own pace and with all the support you need.
Before this became an online course, I taught it live at Knit City. Here’s what Jocelyn shared.
"The Altering Sweater Patterns workshop was outstanding!
The course provided real, practical information that you can apply to your sweater knitting immediately. It opened my eyes to the way to think about and dissect patterns and measurements to understand what those mean for me and the fit that I want. It gave me a new perspective to take time to assess the fit and how to get what I want both through the sizing of all parts of the sweater but also the type of fabric I want at the end while working with the qualities of the wool (e.g. superwash) and not against them.
It was great to learn from Megan's experience as a designer and she was able to take away the fear that making alterations to a pattern (like significant increases) is not going to have a big impact on the look of the sweater. One of the key points for me was Megan's explanation of gauge swatching. I've been doing swatches but my sweaters were still not fitting how I wanted. She went into detail on why you swatch, how to properly swatch and how to use your swatch information in your calculations and your decisions about the final fabric you want for your sweater. Megan was a supportive and engaging facilitator who shares her knowledge in a way that is clear and easily understood."
And now that it’s online, over 500 knitters have taken the course — here’s what they’re saying.
