MASTER THE ART OF KNITWEAR DESIGN
Design patterns that reflect your creativity, with clarity, skill, and confidence.
This self-paced course teaches you how to design, grade, write, publish, and market your own knitwear patterns.
START THE COURSEAre you ready to take your skills beyond knitting —and into designing?
At this point, you already know how to knit beautifully. You might have knit sweaters, shawls, socks, accessories and maybe even modified patterns here and there. You know what you like and you have ideas.
And now, you want to turn those ideas into real designs.
You’re a knitter who wants the confidence and know how to step fully into being a designer.
Maybe you’ve tried drafting a pattern before and felt stuck with grading.
Maybe you have ideas but don’t know how to structure them into a publish-ready pattern.
Maybe you’re not sure how designers write instructions so clearly, or how they price, publish, and market their work.
You’re in the right place.
This course gives you the tools, the professional techniques, and the behind-the-scenes systems that working designers use every single day.
Here’s what you’ll learn inside.
Knitwear Design Mastery takes you through the entire design process in a clear, structured way — from first idea to published pattern. This isn't beginner content. It's a professional-level roadmap for knitters who already understand construction and want to translate that knowledge into polished, intentional designs.
You’ll learn how to turn your ideas into swatches and sketches, how to grade confidently for multiple sizes, how to write clear, knitter-friendly instructions, and how to publish and market your patterns so your work reaches the knitters who’ll love it.
Each module builds on the last, giving you a repeatable system you can use for every design you create.

You might be thinking, “Okay… but is this really for me?”
Well, tell me if any of this rings true:
- You've been knitting for a while and want to tackle a new challenge.
- You have tons of design ideas, but aren't quite sure how to transform them into a pattern others can knit from.
- You’ve modified patterns and want to take the next step into creating your own designs.
- You’ve drafted ideas before, but weren’t sure how to structure them into a professional pattern.
- Grading feels confusing, overwhelming, or like a barrier you can’t quite get past.
- You want your designs to be inclusive, polished, and written with clarity.
- You’re ready to publish patterns, but want a reliable process so you feel confident doing it.
- You want to build trust with knitters — not just through creativity, but through accuracy and consistency.
- You don’t just want to design… You want to design well.
If any of these were a yes, this is for you.
Alright, so who’s teaching you all of this?
Hi, I’m Megan Nodecker, co-founder of Pip & Pin and your instructor for this course.
I’ve been knitting for over 25 years and designing knitwear for more than a decade, with dozens of patterns published and knit by makers around the world. My work is known for being wearable, intentional, and thoughtfully constructed — and I care deeply about helping knitters step into designing with clarity and confidence.
Over the years, I’ve taught knitters everywhere from online workshops to in-person events, guiding them through the exact technical foundations that make a pattern polished, accurate, and knitter-friendly.
Knitwear Design Mastery grew out of seeing skilled knitters with incredible ideas — who just needed a little structure and support to bring those ideas to life.
Inside this course, I walk you through the same systems I use in my own design process, so you can publish patterns you’re proud of and create a sustainable, professional workflow you can rely on again and again.
Since launching in 2020, hundreds of knitters have taken the course. Here's what they're saying
